Gord Brown made his first rocking horse in 1984.
It was a very simple stylized horse that was nicknamed "Rocky"
by his nephew Luke. It proved to be very popular and soon Gord was making
rocking horses for friends and relatives. Thus began Gordon's Wood Crafts.
Over the next few years Gord made many
"Rocky" style horses and ventured into custom cabinets and other
wooden items. But, he had always admired the traditional style rocking
horses that he had seen when growing up in England. In 1995 he finally
took the plunge and began creating his very first carved rocking horse.
The experience was everything he hoped
it would be, and on a trip back to England to see family, he visited The
Rocking Horse Shop and the rest as they say "is history". Since
then Gord has carved many horses for customers, some of which can be seen
in our web site Showcase. Gord also carries a wide range of products from
The Rocking Horse Shop for customers who wish to create their own beautiful
heirloom.
